Our criteria for recruiting suitable teachers are as follows:
Essential:
- A first degree in any discipline
- An absolute minimum of the Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL
Desirable:
- Cambridge DELTA or Trinity Licentiate Diploma in TESOL or PGCE (TEFL) or MA in TEFL/TESOL (with observed teaching practice)
- At least 2-3 years' teaching experience which should include some experience abroad.
In line with British Council accreditation guidelines, we do not accept teachers who have completed a weekend TEFL course or online qualifications, as these do not meet Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

Short term positions for the Young Learners' Centre:
We are currently looking for teachers available to work with closed groups of teenagers aged 13 to 17 coming for short courses starting from 12 March. Teaching on these courses takes place mainly in the mornings (15 hours per week) and teachers are expected to accompany students on the social activity programme which takes place in the afternoons, some evenings and at the weekends on a rota basis.
Applicants must live in Cardiff or within commuting distance of the city. Other applicants who can arrange their own accommodation will also be considered.
Please note that the positions for the teenage programme advertised involve regular contact and direct responsibility for people under 18. Successful candidates will be asked to confirm that they have no criminal record and that there is no reason why they should not be considered suitable to work with children.
