We offer a fun and informative social programme

Did you know that the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff houses the largest collection of Impressionist art outside of Paris, France?

CELT offers a regular social programme including sport, excursions, cultural visits and other activities throughout the year in our adult centre, with activities usually taking place every one to two weeks. Whether it be sampling the dishes at the Cardiff International Food Festival, a game of bowling, or visiting a local tourist attraction, the social programme is a great way to meet new people and integrate into the local culture.

Although some activities are free, any events which require a coach and/or entrance tickets are not included in the course fees and have to be paid for separately.

Examples of Activities and Visits

  • Laserquest (around £8.00 per game)
  • Bowling (around £9.00 per game)
  • Castles/Manor houses (around £15 – £20 per person)
  • Food meet-ups (around £15 – £25 per person)
  • Pub/Bar meet-ups (free to enter, but ID required to prove you are over 18.)
  • International parties at CELT (free – bring food from your country to share with everyone!)

Activities and Trips for Young Learners

We offer an attractive and educational social programme

CELT offers an attractive and educational social programme with 4 afternoons of activities (including a half-day excursion) during the week and a full-day excursion on Saturdays. Before going on trips and visits, students are briefed to help them understand what they are going to see and do.

All activities detailed in the social programme are compulsory and are included in the course fees. On each activity, students are accompanied by our teachers and group leaders who carry a school mobile and have every student’s contact details to ensure safety.

Evening activities such as film nights, bowling, and international discos are also organised once a week during the summer.

Examples of Full-Day Excursions

  • Bath – explore this beautiful Georgian city and visit the Abbey Tower
  • Oxford – tour around this famous university city with historic buildings all around you
  • Brecon – a picturesque market town set in the beautiful mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park
  • Swansea – explore museums and beautiful beaches, try traditional Welsh foods at the market and don’t forget to eat some ice-cream!
  • Gloucester – explore the historic cathedral where Harry Potter was filmed, before strolling around the charming Gloucester Quays
  • Bristol – discover the vibrancy of Bristol, where rich history meets an exciting arts scene with waterfront views
  • Other destinations in Wales – We regularly review our social programme, enabling students to see the best of Wales and beyond

Examples of Half-Day Excursions and Visits

  • Big Pit/Rhondda Heritage Park – a tour of a coal mine transformed into a living museum
  • Principality Stadium – see the changing rooms, feel the atmosphere and take plenty of photos on a private tour of our multi-purpose stadium
  • St. Fagans National History Museum – discover historic buildings from different periods of Welsh historty, built using original materials inside a beautiful park. Learn how traditional arts and crafts were made
  • Cardiff Castle – discover the our Roman/Norman/Gothic castle, right in the heart of Cardiff. The interior artwork is magnificent!
  • The National Museum – an exciting collection of art galleries, as well as science and natural history
  • The Senedd (Welsh Parliament) In Cardiff Bay – Experience a private tour around the environmentally-friendly home of the Welsh Government
