New Covid travel rules for international travellers
On 5 January the UK government updated the Covid testing requirements for passengers travelling to the UK.
From Friday 7 January fully vaccinated people travelling to the UK will no longer need to take a pre-departure Covid test and from Sunday 9 January travellers will be able to book a Lateral Flow Test (antigen test) instead of a PCR test to take on arrival.
The Lateral Flow test needs to be booked before departure and has to be taken within 48 hours of arrival. If the test result is negative, you do not need to quarantine. If you get a positive result you will need to take a PCR test and quarantine for 7 days.
Unvaccinated travellers are still required to complete a pre-departure form and have proof of a negative Covid test, taken within 48 hours of departure. They must also isolate for up to ten days and take PCR tests on day two and day eight.
